Artists Solve Problems
I Create Original Art
How did you use your own unique ideas in your work?
In my art project, I tried to think of a different way to do the marble drop. I wanted it to be cool and fun in the same time, so I decided to make a soccer field out of a marble drop slide. First, I made the soccer field with the goals and the white lining that makes it look realistic. I then started making the path and the roads that the marble will take in order for it to go in the goal. Obviously the angle that you put the marble from decided whether the marble will enter the goal or not. Finally, this marble drop was a big success for me and my art grades (I hope), and I would really like to save it forever.ttg
Did you use a source for inspiration, then combine it with your own ideas to make it original?
My source of inspiration was my love to soccer. I have always played soccer, even since when I turned 4 years old. This sport is my official sport, so I decided to honor it with the (soccer field marble drop). Many peers in my class gave me a lot of ideas and plans in order for my project to be better. And truly, these ideas made my project a lot better in its shape and performance ;). I my opinion, not many projects that I have done turned out as perfect as this project, because this was the first time for me to ever build an active project. Finally, help is always need when doing art, and without it, it will be so hard to make a perfect project.
I Communicate Through My Work.
What is this artwork intended to say? What issues are you examining through your artwork?
It's obvious that I communicate through my work, because I have a soccer field sitting near my marble drop. I try to convince people that soccer is a fun sport that everyone can enjoy, no matter how the play or how good they are. Soccer is the mama sport :). World Cup is the most important sport tournment in the world, so watch when it comes four years from now. To conclude, play sports, because they make you feel better, and also because I have nothing left to say :).
What issues are you examining through your artwork?
Really, my only issues in this project, was trying to make the marble drop more and more complicating. I basically tried to make it a Roller Coaster, but it ended up as a normal one. However, I am really pround of ma thing and wouldn't change it or exchange it. I have to admit, that at first, the marble drop was not working, but after I tried harder, it finally worked. Finally, most of the time you cane change your errors, or your mistakes, but it should take effort and work to fix them.
How is this artwork about who you are or what you like?
I think that this art states that I am a competitive person, because in my marble drop, I decided to make it a soccer field with a goal, that is not guaranteed for you to score in. In other words, it's your own luck, its either a goal or not. So my marble drop looks and functions just like a real soccer field. To conclude, my marble drop represents soccer and competitiveness, and it also make me have fun, except when its not beside me.
What problem or type of problem were you solving in your piece?
In my project, I was trying to solve the crisis of marble drops. Was trying to look at building a marble drop from a different point of view. A view, that no one looked at before. My plan was to construct the marble drop, so that the person depends on his on luck, and not on how the marble drop was constructed and made by the person.
What obstacles did you have to overcome?
The obstacle that I had to overcome was the last part of my marble drop, because I had to adjust it in a way that will make the marble have a 50% chance of entering the goal. Obviously, this sounds easy, but when you actually get to try, you will find it terribly hard. Its like hand labor :)
